The L form of Phenylalanine is believed to bolster mood-elevating chemicals in the brain such as dopamine and norepinephrine. The D form appears to block a nervous system enzyme that amplifies pain signals. It may prevent the breakdown of the brains natural narcotics. The combination of the two forms may help quickly relieve minor depression and physical discomforts.
