L-Cysteine is a potent sulfur-based amino acid capable of neutralizing harmful chemicals such as acetylaldehyde found in cigarettes and alcohol. As a detoxifying agent, it improves binding and may help with removal of heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. It is a potent mucolytic agent.
