Huperzine A, an extract from the plant, Huperzia serrata has been used in China for centuries for various ailments, including boosting memory. In China, where the traditional uses of plants dates by millennia, Huperzine A has been approved for the treatment of Alzheimers Diseaes (AD). In the United States, Huperzine A is available as a dietary supplement ingredient. Animal studies show that it can prevent damage to brain cells that can cause memory loss and dementia. Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) is both a water soluble and lipid soluble antioxidant. It is also a required cofactor for the pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) complex for the production of cellular energy from carbohydrates via glycolysis. ALA decreases inflammation, protects against free radical injury to cells, increases cellular energy production, improves insulin resistance in people with metabolic syndrome and diabetes, improves memory when used in conjunction with ALCAR, and decreases complications from diabetes.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) increases glutathione (GSH) production, which is the bodys major endogenous antioxidant. As such, NAC helps quench free radicals to prevent damage to mitochondria.

Biotin is a B vitamin coenzyme required for carboxylation reactions. It is involved in the metabolism of fats, sugar and amino acids for the production of cellular energy.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) root standardized is a powerful antioxidant that directly quenches free radicals and also increases GSH production to prevent mitochondrial damage.
